CP – International Operations Specialist (I-IV) – Greensboro, NC

Role Purpose – 

Responsible for managing customer service activities and international transportation logistics for the successful and cost-effective delivery of active ingredients, raw materials and finished products to and from Syngenta IMC's and third party customers. • Executes the transport and country specific documentation required for Syngenta export shipments in assigned trade-lanes or region. • Represents U.S. International Operations in local and global Supply Chain decisions.

Accountabilities – 

Ensures that all inbound or outbound international shipments are in regulatory compliance, and initiates corrective action for any customer service issues for assigned countries. • Experience in screening for requirements of U.S. Export Controls and U.S. Customs procedures is required. • Syngenta's U.S. export business is at $300 million annually with shipments consigned to 48 different countries. The import business is rapidly growing with a commercial value of $600 million annually with duty liabilities of approximately $20 million.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

Position requires a college degree with 2-5 years business experience preferably in Supply Chain Operations, Customer Service, Logistics or a International business field. • Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, German, or Chinese would be a plus. • Candidate should have a working knowledge of export control regulations and IMDG, IATA, and DOT hazmat regulations. • Preferred that candidate have US Customs broker license.

Critical experience:

Experience in International Freight Forwarding or U.S. Customs Brokerage is critical. • Background in Trade Control and US Customs regulations. • Work in related fields as International Trade, Customer Service, order processing, and International transportation in the chemical industry would be a plus.

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

Candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, have an analytical mind, be detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational skills. • Proficiency with IBM compatible computers is a must. Proficiency in SAP, E-mail, and excellent phone and written communication skills is a must. • Candidate must have strong leadership skills and possess the ability to communicate in a global supply chain with diverse language and cultures. • Licensed, or has general knowledge of U.S. Customs import procedures. • Experience in Export Control regulations in initiating export activities for specifically assigned products. • General knowledge of Customs Bonded shipment requirements, and Foreign Trade Zone activities.
