P & PD Systems Integration Analyst - Three possible locations!

R & PD Systems Integration Analyst – Slater, IA, Stanton, MN or Clinton, IL

Role Purpose – 

To enable tactical integration and implementation of trace and track solutions developed through the Discovery project and other initiatives. This goal will require knowledge of technologies that include, but are not limited to, linear and 2-D bar-coding, RFID tagging, PLC control systems, and associated printing and scanning technologies. This information will be necessary to successfully integrate and utilize current field collected data such as GPS coordinates, plot information, related phenotyping data and seed lab collected data. This role will also provide the support, training, and troubleshooting of the implemented technology solutions. This role is necessary for the harmonization of processes utilized by Corn and Soy Product Development personnel.

Accountabilities – 

Developing and implementing data acquisition equipment and information technology solutions utilized by Syngenta Corn and Soy Product Development field and seed lab personnel. • Supporting IT and business initiatives in an effort to standardize technologies and processes across sites and functions while developing and implementing new systems. • Ensuring solutions meet trace and track requirements, provide increased efficiency, increased accuracy of data collection and management, and reduce workload. • Providing specific site needs analysis, technical knowledge and support for multiple projects including; troubleshooting software and hardware problems, coordinating testing, providing end-user training, and documentation of process solutions. • Collaborate with clients and Data Managers to identify training and support needs for specified applications and data collection tools, then develop, document and deliver SOPs. • Performing all tasks and behaving in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety related company policies and practices, including completing all required Company training courses and attending local safety meetings.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

B.S. degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, engineering or similar educational experience. • A working knowledge of various IT hardware including their troubleshooting and repair. • Knowledge of recent advances in automation and IT, familiar with information management systems such as databases, networking, bar-coding, computer hardware, and software reporting tools.

Supply Technician IV – Plant – Coon Rapids, IA

Role Purpose – 

To produce a reliable supply of high quality seed by executing production plant tasks assign by Plant Management. Foster an operational culture founded on HSE and process improvement.

Accountabilities – 

Tasks and/or Responsibilities may include but not limited to Corn and/or Soybean: • Conditioning Supervisor - Supervises conditioning operation. • Area Manager and/or District Manager – Assisting Field Manager, Asst. Plant Manager, Plant Manager or Agronomist with communicating and contracting acreage with growers, supervising the planting of seed crop, scouting fields for insects and diseases, assigning area during harvest (drying, shelling, field, etc), organizing field inspections process and managing field crews. Responsible for pesticide management program including scouting, diagnosis, application and documentation. Rouging and detasseling of seed fields in assigned area for seed production. • Maintenance Supervisor – Responsible for managing the maintenance of equipment, vehicles and grounds for the Supply Chain site. Schedules maintenance activities and assigns tasks to employees Set up preventive maintenance and training program to keep operations running smoothly. • Pre-Conditioning Lab Coordinator – Perform yield estimates, bin inspections and bin sampling. • Receiving-Sorting Coordinator – Data entry to update inventory and deliveries. • Harvest Coordinator – Responsible for harvest time inspections • Shipping/Distribution Coordinator - Work with shipping, data entry to update inventory, using SAP or other software tracking systems. • Warehouse Supervisor - Coordinate warehouse processes including storage, maintenance and shipping of company products. Coordinate activities for warehouse personnel, develop employee labor skills, and load trucks accurately and quickly. Maintains reports, records, identifies historical benchmarks to establish goals. Tracks and monitors inventory. Coordinates with Plant Management Team to set schedules and determine workforce needs. • Plant HSE Lead – Work with Plant Management Team on training and maintaining a safe work environment fostering an operational culture founded on HSE and process improvement. • Bagging Lead - Manage the bagging of product per instructions provided by plant management. Will need to know how bagging equipment works. Making sure all bagging supplies are available per instructions. Might manage certain amount of manpower. Oversee bagging crew to ensure product is packaged according to quality requirements. Enter daily bagging quality information on computer to update inventory. • Machine Operator – Operates tractor, harvest equipment and/or other equipment. • Plant Lab QA Manager – Perform quality checks on seed in a lab setting from bin samples and finished lot samples. Perform germination test, moisture, clean-out percentages, grading test, seed counts and test weight.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

Must be High School graduate or GED degree • Associate degree is preferred • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred • Commercial Pesticide Applicators License preferred • An agricultural background is also preferred • Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures. • May require knowledge of general industrial, electrical, and repair requirements.

Role Purpose – 

This position will oversee the activities occurring in Hawaii for integrating traits into elite corn inbreds.

Accountabilities –

PH.D. and extensive work experience in plant breeding, genetics or related field in a research and development environment.

Role Purpose – 

Manage and execute conversion projects for the incorporation of traits into Syngenta germplasm.

Accountabilities – 

Execute assigned conversion projects independently including nursery writing, planting, sampling, harvesting, shelling, and shipping. o Maximum cycle time of 120 days from planting to the next planting o Projects may utilize different protocols and have different timelines • Work with 3rd party labor provider to ensure adequate staff are available for conversion project execution • Translate lab data from ELISA and taqman analyses into selection decisions in trials • Continuously assess agronomic and plant health conditions of trial material, and promptly report any issues requiring action • Assist in the physical and electronic management of seed inventory of assigned projects. • Provide timely updates on nursery trial progress • As needed, participate in station teams and initiatives • Understand and fully comply with Trait Stewardship policies and processes. • Understand Site Work Instructions and protocols pertaining to trait conversion function. • Encourage safety awareness and fully support station safety objectives. • Train seasonal staff assigned to project in skill sets required to successfully execute assigned projects.

Role Purpose – 

The Senior Patent Attorney role in NAFTA Crop Protection has strategic responsibility for the protection of Syngenta Crop Protection intellectual property and establishment and expansion of freedom to operate in the business and technology areas and IP portfolio assigned from time to time. The position will involve all aspects of patent law with particular emphasis on application drafting, worldwide patent filing and prosecution, client counseling, evaluating patent validity and infringement issues, preparing and reviewing agreements, managing an IP portfolio, and managing the IP aspects of strategic projects as assigned, with a high level of knowledge and expertise. The successful applicant must possess a law degree and be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with a thorough, advanced knowledge and expertise in patent law and chemical technology. • Knowledge and expertise in seed trait biotechnology and/or trademark law is a plus. • Strong science background, preferably in chemistry or biology related fields.

Critical experience:

• 8 plus years of chemical patent experience as a patent attorney in private law firm practice and/or in-house patent attorney experience (preferably in agricultural field) • Substantial experience in both patent prosecution and strategic IP matters, including drafting and negotiation of agreements • Law firm experience is a plus.

Retail Account Manager - Indiana

Role Purpose – 

Establish a unique business relationship with large and key accounts, their General Managers and Board of Directors that require a more in depth strategic, aligned, and committed approach. Account responsibilities will include but are not limited to managing multiple locations through and with the Head Shed, developing long term business strategies through market analysis and understanding customer's skill sets and abilities. Development of unique market approaches and product/service utilization including private label brands and generic defensive strategies. Marketing Research Agronomist - Site Leader - Ames, IA

Marketing Research Agronomist- Site Leader – Ames, IA 

Role Purpose – 

To identify, design, prepare, plant, maintain, harvest, and analyze agronomic studies on corn and soybean varieties that support the brand campaign message. Types of studies include product characterization, product interaction, technology validation, technology efficacy, and general agronomy. Assist in presentation of educational handouts, reports, updates, and presentations on results of research studies and basic agronomy information for use by Syngenta Seeds personnel in sales calls, dealer training sessions, customer meetings, and influencer updates. Coordinate day-to-day research and farming activities and prioritize personnel workload and task assignments at all research sites in which the station is responsible for.

Accountabilities – 

Assist Agronomy Marketing Manager with determination of research topics and design studies. This involves identifying and prioritizing important study topics, determining seed and other agricultural product entry lists, designing studies, and making all necessary pre-planting preparations to conduct studies (obtaining technology testing agreements, obtaining seed treatment materials, determining common use rates/activities of other agricultural products and obtaining these products for inclusion in studies, creating plot plans and field maps, treating seed, and counting/packaging seed). • Coordinate field activities such as planting, plot maintenance, and harvest of research plots and bulk crop areas. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, and fertilizer applications, planting plots and bulk areas, applying/implementing treatments, collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season. Fall activities include harvest counts and actual plot harvest. • Manage field research/farming activities of Marketing Research Agronomy staff. Includes prioritizing tasks, assigning workloads, and coordination of treatment application and note taking activities of Marketing Research Agronomy staff and part-time workers. • Analyze data and prepare agronomic reports and presentations. Prioritize and conduct statistical analysis of yield and in-season data for each study, including combining data for multi-year and/or multi-site/multi-site-year analyses. Interpret analysis and develop initial presentation plan for discussion with Marketing Research Agronomy group. Write report/update/presentation (or multiples of the three) of group consensus study interpretation in a user friendly and technically sound format. • Present research and general agronomy information to Syngenta Seeds personnel, dealers, customers, prospects, and influencers. Marketing Research Agronomists present information through a number of formal and in-formal avenues and must be able to speak on a wide variety of agronomic and product issues with very short or no notice. • Equipment maintenance. Marketing Research Agronomy equipment must constantly be maintained and updated to insure maximum precision in all treatment applications. This area includes daily routine maintenance activities, seasonal equipment preparation, design and/or design and creation of new pieces of equipment to improve treatment effectiveness and/or general farm efficiency, and a continuing understanding of equipment needs and status. • Personal development. Attend appropriate professional society meetings, university updates, and training seminars, and read scientific literature to maintain a strong agronomic resource base. Attend Company sanctioned and/or outside source training seminars on personal development and communication skills as agreed upon with Argonomy Marketing Manager.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

Ph.D. and/or MS in Agronomy / related field or BS in Agronomy with a minimum of 5 years experience with direct involvement in agrononomy research and data analysis. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Good personnel and facility management skills.
