Vilsack To Replace Richardson?

A well-placed source says one option under consideration in filling the now vacant commerce secretary’s slot is to tap ex-Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack for the job. Vilsack already has been named to serve as Barack Obama’s agriculture secretary, and easily could move into the commerce position.

What does this program look like?
You will have a lot to say about how we should organize this group. As the first wave of Ag Ambassadors, it will be your job to help create this program. That being said, there are a few things already in place. Once per month I will organize a speaker that will meet with us via tele-conference. It will likely be someone well connected in the ag industry - and always a good person to know. They will get to meet you over the phone - but also receive a copy of your resume for future reference! We will also meet once a month via phone conference. The meeting will serve as a way to help motivate each other, tell stories, share ideas, and plan for upcoming events. When you are on your own time - your mission is simply to be an ambassador for the AgJobNetwork. Talk about it. Email about it. Facebook about it. Invite others to join. Speak about it. How you do this is up to you. We’ll figure out what works over time.

This is an unpaid internship - and the amount of time you put into it is completely up to you. Just understand that it is also highly visible because of the media we are using. Your performance will be noticed, and can help you with your future career in ways you can’t even imagine!

Retail Account Manager - Indiana

Retail Account Manager - Indiana

Role Purpose – 

Establish a unique business relationship with large and key accounts, their General Managers and Board of Directors that require a more in depth strategic, aligned, and committed approach. Account responsibilities will include but are not limited to managing multiple locations through and with the Head Shed, developing long term business strategies through market analysis and understanding customer's skill sets and abilities. Development of unique market approaches and product/service utilization including private label brands and generic defensive strategies. Networking with internal Syngenta and external customer stakeholders will be a must as accounts will cross both territory and district lines. Although the initial focus will be primarily crop protection, Retail Account Manager will coordinate seed treatment, Crop Protection and Seed plans of varying degrees based on customer needs analysis. 

Accountabilities – 

Increase our influence with selected large retail customers based in Indiana and businesses that span across multiple states, districts and sales territories. 

Manage/increase Crop Protection revenue in specific market 

Manage offer design, strategic planning and implementation of offers 

Key contact/interface for all Syngenta business and deliver a valuable Agribusiness experience 

Key customer consultative asset, GM & Board of Directors. 

Drive communication (internal and external) within organization in seamless fashion to deliver agreed upon strategies 

Develop integrated business plans that engage customer in strategic partner activities 

Improve customer offer customization for greater ROI and begin to position enhancements as true Business alignment agreements 

Business process analysis and improvement

Identify and pursue additional business opportunities

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

It is essential that the candidate have a minimum 3+ years in industry, sales/marketing experience, proven track record in strategic decision making, knowledge of retail customer business, organizational effectiveness and product/brand/crop knowledge.

Critical experience:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years sales management/marketing experience, preferably in Agriculture. The candidate must demonstrate the following abilities: leadership, innovative thinking and calculated risk-taking.

IS Operations Specialist – Minneaopolis, MN

Role Purpose –

This role is accountable for assisting in the management of IS project portfolios, budgets, and suppliers in Syngenta IS. Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

Sr Engineering Project Manager – Slater, IA  

 

Role Purpose

 

An engineering project management position in the NAFTA Seed Supply Chain, which provides Project oversight for numerous capital projects at any given time. Key deliverable is the successful execution of capital projects and asset renovations for the Seed Supply Chain in terms of safety, cost, schedule and commissioning. Potential involvement in Global seed supply Chain or Product Development Projects .

 

Accountabilities –

 

Financial scope – Capital Projects up to $150 million in size individually, up to $250 Million in aggregate. • Indirect people responsibility – Lead and direct multi disciplined teams. Manage 3rd party contracts and Contractors. • Development of project scope, specifications and contracts for projects in a team environment to the satisfaction of the project customer. • Budget and schedule conformance for assigned projects. Monitor and meet key project milestones. • Responsible for change management process on all assigned projects to ensure proper documentation and approval on scope changes. • Identify opportunities for improvement in the way projects are defined and executed while meeting Business needs for costs and schedule. • Establish sound cost estimating tools and techniques including risk analysis tools, while ensuring consistency of application for engineering projects. • Control /coordination of discipline design activities, identification/specification of engineering standards for design/procurement/construction. • Ensure engineering designs comply with best practice standards, current and future legislative requirements, and Syngenta HSE guidelines. • Innovative, cost effective project engineering solutions through innovative execution strategy, integrated teams and internal/external benchmarking. • Demonstrate leadership in project engineering management.

 

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

 

Critical knowledge:

 

Project management Experience. To be fully functional in the position, the incumbent must possess, from prior training or early experience in industry, familiarity with project management of large and small engineering projects and thorough understanding of the concepts and procedures followed in front to end execution of capital projects. • Incumbent will be proficient in capital cost estimation, engineering contract management, and negotiation skills.

 

Critical experience:

 

Strong background in seeds business with cross-functional experience being an advantage. • Experience in mid to world-scale capital project generation and execution is a strong advantage. • Experience negotiating and administering contracts with outside entities.

 

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:

 

Ability to interact, influence and effectively communicate when working with senior stakeholders • Project management skills including development and evaluation, definition, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. • Strong organizational and planning skills. • Demonstrated leadership skills. • Good interpersonal relationships and ability to operate in a matrix organization. • Keen interest in maintaining technology and project management excellence. • Independent objectivity regarding standards. • Effective networking with other Project Managers and Engineers from the global Engineering community. • Ability to form project teams and develop other team members to tackle challenging targets and to achieve those goals with limited resources and tight timelines. • Strong concern for maintaining HSE and Syngenta standards and technical integrity while under pressure to meet challenging targets and timelines.
