POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Minnesota Agri-Growth Council (MAGC) is seeking a Communications Director to develop and execute both internal and external communications strategies. Ideal candidate will have communications or public relations degree and minimum 2 years experience working with food/agriculture sector or public policy. Candidates should have understanding of issues and trends affecting food/agriculture industry, as well as legislative and regulatory process. Communications duties include writing and distributing members information; managing website and IT consultants; devising timely press releases; and managing collateral information. Additional duties include assisting with legislative initiatives; planning and marketing events; developing relationships with current/prospective members; presenting at Board of Director meetings; and operating in a team office environment.
This Communications Director position will play an integral role to the organization, its members, and the entire state food/agriculture industry. Successful candidate will be resourceful, possess quality writing/communications abilities and people skills, and the ability to work effectively in a small office environment.
MAGC offers a dynamic but flexible working environment. While the position preferred is full-time, Agri-Growth will also consider experienced candidates seeking a less than full time arrangement. The position offers a professional salary range. Attractive 401(k), vacation time, and merit-based bonus also included.
BACKGROUND
MAGC is a non-profit trade association representing the food & agriculture industry through public policy, lobbying, strategic planning, and advocacy. The Council’s 200+ members range from multinational as well as small food processors to renewable energy manufacturers, other trade associations, farm and commodity groups, finance-lenders, academic institutions, and all others directly and indirectly involved in the food and agriculture industry.

- Employee Communications - This person will collaborate with the Public Affairs team to determine the messaging and tone for our employee communications efforts. - Executive Speeches and Presentations - Ensure consistent messaging and tone through executive speeches and presentations to various audiences including employees, investors, and analysts.
- Bachelor's degree is required. Major in English / Journalism / Communications preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive communications experience.
- Exceptional writer with proven skills.
- Ability to match their writing style to specific projects ranging from executive speeches to web content.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize projects in a fast paced environment.
- Agency experience is a plus.

Role Purpose –

Accountabilities –
This role is accountable for assisting in the management of IS project portfolios, budgets, and suppliers in Syngenta IS. Specifically the candidate would work with IS Management and the Budget and Supplier Managers to: • Ensure the alignment of the IS budget with the overall financial plan and Syngenta business objectives. • Manage and develop healthy, value-adding relationships with IS suppliers while ensuring that contracts meet Syngenta's needs. • Effectively communicate and coordinate with regional and/or global project portfolio, IS budget and supplier management stakeholders and ensure that processes are being followed. • Support IS Service Managers in their work with IS suppliers. • Ensure that IS suppliers are engaged in continuous improvement activities. • Ensure the alignment of the IS Project Portfolio with the overall financial plan and business objectives. • Ensure that all IS projects are prioritized, funded, and resourced. • Management and oversight of Portfolio Review Boards. • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders including portfolio review boards, Project Managers, Finance, HQ, Supplier Mgmt, Purchasing, the IS Leadership Team(s) and others as needed.
Knowledge, experience & capabilities –
Critical knowledge:
Bachelor's degree required. IS and/or business degree preferred but open to other disciplines and/or experience that provides the basic aptitude that we are seeking.
