Site HSE - Quality Manager - Florida

Site HSE-Q Manager (Health, Safety and Environment, Quality)– Ft Myers, FL - 1140 Role Purpose Responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental Quality performance of the Plant Site. As part of the site management team ensure legal compliance, implementation of Syngenta HSE-Q standards and policies across the site and deliver sustained improvements in performance. Accountabilities: HSE
• Ensure site compliance with local, state and federal regulations and Syngenta requirements
• Provide direction, training and leadership for site
• Coordinate/manage HSE projects, e.g., New construction, waste disposal, air permitting and occasional environmental projects
• Responsible for site monthly and annual safety reporting.
• Creation and distribution of HSE communication documents, including response to accident investigations and safety alerts
• Develop, administer and communicate numerous site safety programs. Become site lead for these 
• Resource for HSE questions from site and corporate personnel
• Develop and maintain Intranet information
• Documentation and filing of site HSE reports, processes, SOP’s, audits etc

Quality Site Coordinator
• Ensure site compliance in regard to all aspects of the QBS
• Develop Plan Site Audit Schedules
• Work with other Managers to ensure training needs are met in regard to Quality and HSE 
• Ensure Data and Document control process are managed
• Maintain Master lists for CAPARS and Request for Variances
• Ensure that identification and traceability occurs throughout production plant
• Schedule and Facilitate Plant Management Reviews
• Ensure management of the customer complaint process
• Critical equipment Calibration Knowledge, experience & capabilities Critical knowledge Bilingual English/Spanish skills required 
• A four-year degree required. Equivalent job experience considered in absence of degree.
• Course work in safety or environmental issues preferred
• Experience in the seed industry preferred
• Knowledge of HSE regulations, e.g. OSHA, EPA, DOT
• Knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Systems 
 Critical experience 
• A minimum of three years of HSE auditing/management experience
• Familiarity with seed/agricultural operations

QA Lab Manager - Minnesota

Manage, maintain, develop and optimize physiological testing protocols for both corn and soybeans. Ensure that physiological testing demands are met in a timely, reliable and cost effective manner. Develop QA testing systems that ensure consistent results across all physiological QA labs. Initiate and participate in quality improvement efforts. Provide technical training and access to Physiological testing philosophies to sales forces to the 3 distinct brands. Accountabilities • Standardize, optimize and coordinate physiological tests that are reliable, accurate, cost effective, timely and pertinent. • Communicate with QA Managers, production plants, parent seed and research staff to understand and anticipate testing demands during the peak seasons. Develop clear sample submission guidelines, to ensure evenly distributed testing loads during peak testing periods.  • Provide procedural and technical leadership for all Supply Chain personnel in quality improvement efforts. • Develop and implement new physiological testing protocols to meet the evolving needs of the business. • Calibrate 3rd party labs and develop a list of approved 3rd party labs, to facilitate outside testing when the need arises. • Validate physiological test results / procedures across all labs through routine internal calibration work. • Develop a professional, highly competent staff through motivation, continuing education and by providing a stimulating work environment. Create an environment that rewards innovative thinking within the team for continual process improvement. • Maintain, through training and testing protocols, a safe work environment in accordance with HSE policies. • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Quality Assurance Manager/Stewardship Officer – Stanton, MN

Role Purpose 

The purpose of this role is to provide on-site stewardship and regulatory guidance and support, protecting Syngenta from implications associated with non-compliance.

Accountabilities –

Documentation Accountabilities • Maintaining applicable stewardship and regulatory compliance documentation and records (e.g., Record of Planting, training forms, Regulated Seed Destruct forms) • Become familiar with Quality Management practices related to GM materials at the site and coordinate the development and implementation of Site Work Instructions (SWIs).  • Coordinating with internal Biotech Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance personnel to understand these requirements and ensure compliance.  • Facilitating regular reviews and updates of SWIs. Training/Education/Communication Accountabilities • Developing appropriate training materials and delivering training to local staff on stewardship and regulatory compliance requirements, including standard operating procedures, SWIs, and any unique local regulations and/or permit terms and conditions. • Facilitating QC training for personnel that will be completing SQC submissions. • Communicating related QA and Regulatory Compliance updates and issues onsite. • Leading site stewardship leadership group meetings and ensuring this group is delivering the required training to their individual work teams. • Updating Biotech Quality Assurance with current site work instructions and forms. • Representing site at relevant stewardship and regulatory compliance meetings. Monitoring and Follow Up Accountabilities • Monitoring adherence to stewardship and regulatory compliance requirements for the handling (e.g., transport, planting, harvest) of regulated materials. • Contacting appropriate internal stewardship and regulatory compliance managers when a lack of adherence with stewardship and/or regulatory compliance requirements is detected. • Initiating Corrective Preventative Action Process (CPAR) when non-conformity to regulatory compliance and stewardship requirements are reported. Participate in root cause analysis and development of appropriate response. • Site contact for internal audits/quality reviews. Performing all tasks and behaving in a manner compliant with and in support of all safety related company policies and practices, including completing all required Company training courses and attending local safety meetings.

Knowledge, experience & capabilities –

Critical knowledge:

Four-year degree in an agriculturally related field. • Thorough knowledge of row crop research trials, process, methodology. • Minimum one year of experience working directly with regulated traits. • Thorough Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements required.

Critical experience:

Experience in working across diverse groups. • Experience in impacting change without direct authority.
