Financial Services Trainee

Current Openings: Oberlin, OH, Bluffton, IN, Kokomo, IN, Valparaiso, IN (2), Northeast IN region.

What is a "Trainee"?

Financial Services Officer Trainees are individuals who enter Farm Credit's fast-paced, year-round training program to become a fully functional Financial Services Officer – a competitive, goal-oriented sales and marketing role. A Financial Services Officer's responsibilities are not only to sell and market financial products to potential and existing customers, but to build relationships with these clients and meet their needs. Also, a successful FSO maintains a positive presence in the rural areas he or she serves by becoming involved in community organizations and events. Farm Credit Services of Mid-America will provide the tools and "know-how" to become a valued employee for our company through our extensive, hands-on training.

What to Expect:

During a 6-9 month period, trainees will be assigned a field office location with a FSO Partner who will provide diverse job shadowing opportunities of daily activities in and out of the office.

In addition to the field job shadowing, trainees complete required course work and attend classroom training every 2-3 weeks at our Central Office in Louisville, Kentucky. This structured training is where trainees begin to learn the products and services Farm Credit has to offer. The basics of sales, marketing and finance are also an integral portion of the program, coupled with the opportunity to meet and learn with other FCS employees.

Directly following a training session, trainees will have individual, hands-on learning of the topic with a "Subject Matter Expert" in the field or appropriate department. Our training coordinator will assist you in scheduling your training sessions and follow-up visits. Some of the training courses include:

 New Employee Orientation

 Introduction to Credit Analysis

Business Development (Strategies for sales calls and building customer relationships)

After Training:

If you are interested in one of the specific openings listed above, your permanent sales territory will be the location where you train. If you apply for our general training pool, A sales territory will be assigned during or near completion of the training program. Trainees are encouraged to apply for specific locations as they come available any time during training.

Salary Range:

Starting base salary for trainees (recent college graduates) is $39,000 plus a 3,000 signing bonus which can be used for relocation assistance. Experienced candidates' salary is negotiable. Furthermore, trainees can earn incentive – up to 20% of base salary during training. After training, FSO's continue to earn a base salary with UNCAPPED incentive.
