The North Dakota Stockmen's Association is seeking an enthusiastic, creative professional with an agricultural background to direct the organization's internal and external communications efforts.

Major tasks will include the production of the North Dakota Stockman magazine, public relations campaigns and legislative action.

Skills:

Applicants should be proficient in writing, editing, graphic design, public relations, event planning and lobbying. Strong organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; and a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs are essential.

Tasks:

The communications director will have these responsibilities (and others as directed):

■ Work as editor and advertising manager for the 11-times-a-year North Dakota Stockman, the once-every-two-years North Dakota Cattle Directory and other association publications. This includes planning and editing content, interviewing sources, researching issues,

writing news and feature stories, working with columnists, photographing livestock and people, designing ads and editorial pages, preparing files for printing, sending proofs, prepping for billing and archiving information.

■ Assist the association lobbyist, including testifying, making legislative calls, co-writing periodic reports, monitoring bills' status and helping with legislative short-courses.

■ Coordinate special projects and activities such as the Spring Roundups and Military Appreciation Day, including tasks like fundraising, workforce recruitment, financial reporting and pre- and post-publicity.

■ Serve as an association spokesperson, including writing and issuing media releases and statements and broadcasting a weekly radio commentary.

Education/Experience:

Applicants should have a communications, public relations or related degree or equivalent.

The communications director will be offered a competitive compensation and benefits package,
