Role Purpose & Accountabilities – 
The Buyer role is responsible for the daily procurement activities at Syngenta Biotechnology, Inc. This role will manage a) all procedural aspects of purchasing activities within a controlled spending of up to $5-$40 million, b) up to 100 suppliers, and c) regular communications with internal and external customers. Further, the role will be expected to implement relevant regional, country and/or global sourcing strategies.
Accountabilities:
• Negotiate site contracts/purchase orders for goods and services; • Manage day to day operational purchasing transactions; • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers; • Develop key performance indicators for suppliers, service levels and supplier management; • Provide effective customer support through the applied use of comprehensive purchasing knowledge, tools, techniques and processes; • Ensure compliance and consistency with purchasing laws, policies, procedures and processes across categories; • Analyze and determine appropriate purchasing strategies, while monitoring spend patterns across categories; • Develop and recommend policy and/or procedural revisions to Purchasing Manager; • Provide educational workshops to customers; and • Maintain a current knowledge of purchasing policies, practices, principles and technologies
Knowledge, experience & capabilities –
Critical knowledge
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business, or other related field • Demonstrated general knowledge of purchasing laws, policies and procedures • Demonstrated knowledge of standard purchasing systems (i.e. SAP, Emptoris Suite, etc.) • Ability to develop local expertise in multiple supply markets • Ability to handle detailed information and manage critical issues • CPM preferred Critical experience
• Minimum three (3) years experience in a purchasing or sales oriented role • 1-2 years building effective working relationships with internal and external customers • Biotechnology experience preferred

• Develop strong customer and internal purchasing network to raise knowledge and awareness • Develop local expertise in multiple supply markets • Develop performance measures and benchmarks for suppliers • Support the implementation and growth of a regional and global high performing purchasing organization
Additional information
